Windrush Against Sewage Pollution are leading the national conversation on the sewage crisis blighting our rivers, lakes and coasts. The WASP team, including Ash Smith and Prof Peter Hammond, collect and analyse information on water quality and sewage discharges to expose the scale of the pollution affecting our freshwater.
Their work has exposed widespread illegal spilling across the UK, conflicts of interest within the water industry and the Environment Agency, and some shocking truths about the industry’s dirtiest secrets.
WildFish’s mission is to reverse the decline of wild fish populations and their habitats. Grounded in science and the law, WildFish campaigns against the prime causes of fish decline: pollution from sewage, over abstraction and open-net salmon farming.
Through their SmartRivers programme, WildFish is helping to fill the national monitoring gap in UK rivers. Through this initiative, we have demonstrated shocking declines in invertebrate abundance and diversity on rivers around the catchment.
Map Impact believes that nature can be improved in harmony with human activity. Through collaboration and technology, they add significant value to environmental services. Map Impact develop novel products that measure the performance of natural assets.
Through their partnership with Save Windermere, and with backing from the UK Space Agency, Map Impact have brought fresh and novel insights to highlight the impact that human activity is having on our lake.
