"England’s largest lake is at risk of “ecological destruction” due to pollution from sewage works, agriculture and nearly 2,000 private septic tanks, a conservationist has said.

Matt Staniek, a zoologist, has begun an online petition urging George Eustice, the environment secretary, to “save Windermere lake from sewage and an environmental catastrophe”. More than 46,000 people have signed it."
